Video subtitling is a different discipline from document translation. The translator must fit the translation into time-coded text segments that match the spoken audio. If the translation is too long for the time available, the subtitle appears and disappears before the viewer can read it. If the segmentation is awkward, the subtitles disrupt comprehension rather than supporting it. Good subtitle translation requires both linguistic accuracy and an understanding of subtitle timing and reading speed standards.
We handle subtitling for corporate training videos, product demonstration content, conference presentation recordings, marketing and brand videos, e-learning modules, webinar recordings, and documentary-style company content. We do not currently subtitle feature films or episodic television.
Closed captioning (CC) is technically different from subtitling. Subtitles assume the viewer can hear the audio but not understand the language. Closed captions include all audio content including speaker identification, sound effects descriptions, and music cues, and are designed for viewers who cannot hear the audio at all. CC is required by ADA for digital content in many contexts. We produce CC files that meet FCC standards for caption readability and timing.
If you need your video dubbed rather than subtitled, we translate and adapt the script for voice-over recording. Dubbing adaptation is different from subtitle translation because the spoken delivery needs to match the original timing and mouth movements where visible. We adjust sentence structure, contraction use, and phrase length to make the adapted script easier for voice actors to deliver naturally. We do not provide voice actors or recording services, but we can recommend partners in the Tampa market.
Video subtitling is priced per video based on runtime and language combination. Spanish is our highest-volume subtitle pair and is priced at the Express package starting rate. Portuguese, French, and German are priced similarly. Less common languages may carry a premium. All projects include a free quality review of the synchronized subtitle file before delivery.
SRT is our default delivery format, which is compatible with YouTube, Vimeo, and most video platforms. We also deliver VTT for web video and HTML5 players, and ASS/SSA for broadcast and high-quality streaming applications. If your platform requires a specific format, let us know and we will check compatibility.
No, but it helps. If you have an existing transcript or script, it speeds up the process and reduces the risk of mishearing any specialized terminology. If no transcript exists, we transcribe the audio first before translating. Transcription is included for all videos under 20 minutes.
Yes. We handle multilingual source videos where different speakers appear in different languages. We translate each speaker's dialogue and keep speaker attribution in the subtitle file where the platform supports it.
